WEAVINGS

I weave multiple magazine images together by hand. The work studies the connection between mass media and everyday life, showing how relationships develop and patterns emerge.

The original works are intimate in scale and intricate in detail; the result of many hours of careful and repetitive activity. The process of subjecting mechanical reproductions to manual techniques integrates commercial and traditional processes and provides a way to draw on my Native American Heritage, while acknowledging contemporary influences.

Each work is smaller than twelve inches in either direction and has a unique front and back. Double-sided frames provide a way to  preserve and reveal the entire piece. Selected images have also been reproduced as 30 x 40 inch framed prints.

This body of work has been widely exhibited in the United States and abroad.
