Razor Cut
|
These familiar outdoor images are printed and mounted on thick board. Each image is then cut into smaller pieces with a razor blade and reassembled with space in between each photo fragment. The cuts interrupt the continuity of the visual experience and lend a three-dimensional aspect to a two-dimensional medium. These aesthetic cuts turn the destruction of the image into a formal compositional component. In addition, the cuts become new crop marks and the fragments become smaller compositions within the overall composition of the work.
